Little Munden Away 2022

Little Munden away 2022

Albury batted first and made a faltering start, finding themselves 4 down for 11 after 4 overs. Ian Foxwell (6) and club president Keith Wheatley (6), returning to action after a 5 year sabbatical, moved the score along to 29 and then both fell in quick succession - a recovery was needed. Digging in, Mark Jolley and John Fraser-Andrews began to build a strong partnership, sharing 89 runs until Fraser-Andrews (19) was bowled by Little Munden's Da Silva, taking his 4th wicket. Jolley now accelerated the scoring, adding a further 40 to the total in partnership with Mark Wilkinson (6), Matt Wilson (0) and John Brooks (0*) to finish on a magnificent 90 from only 72 balls, at a  strike-rate of 125, that brought the team’s total to 158.

Little Munden’s openers had reached 17 before Jolley broke their stand. Fraser Andrews replaced Oxborrow at the other end and picked up a wicket with the score on 40. A mini collapse followed, Jolley and Fraser-Andrews picking up a wicket each and 120 runs were still needed by Little Munden. However fine batting from Naresh (34 not out) and Holm took the scores level, father retiring on 65 for Holm junior to hit the winning runs.

Albury return to action with their first home game of the season, when they play High Roding on 21 May at Stocking Pelham!
