Match report
The season opener at the end of April saw Albury secure a good win away to Thorley CC, largely due to a devastating spell of bowling from Josh Wheatley (5 wickets for 7 runs in 6.2 overs). This was ably supported by the rest of the bowling attack with Thorley bowled out for a total of 98.
Albury’s opening pair of Neil Oxborrow and Russel Dibley made steady progress in reply until Oxborrow succumbed LBW. Two more wickets fell cheaply before Wheatley added a quick fire 20 in 20 balls. Dibley was next to go for 22, leaving captain Mark Jolley and Mark Wilkinson (5*) to try and steer the ship home. Jolley fell on 26, but Charlie Wootton quickly hit the winning runs, finishing 9 not out.
